Where We Work

The GATE study includes all 120 counties in Kentucky. The success of a pilot study (Grant # R03DA043377) laid the foundation for the GATE study. This pilot study highlighted the limited uptake of medication for opioid use disorder in prison. The pilot also found barriers to treatment access in rural Appalachia.

The map below shows the rural and urban geography for Kentucky’s counties, which is one focus of the GATE study.
